What is L-Dopa

L-Dopa comes from the Mucuna Pruriens plant, which is a velvet bean climbing herb that is covered in prickly, itchy hairs containing serotonin. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years and has a reputation for increasing the size of testicles. The plant contains levodopa or L-Dopa which works as a precursor to several hormones, including dopamine.

Side effects

Any side effects experienced while taking L-Dopa are vastly reduced by getting the dosage right. If you experience any sensitivities, then these can be helped by reducing the dosage. There are many contraindications which you should find out about before taking the supplements, particularly if you are taking anti-diabetic, antipsychotic or cardiovascular drugs. Aside from these contraindications there are very few reports of other side effects and any side effects that are felt are usually mild and include abdominal bloating, vomiting, headaches and nausea. More rare side effects include palpitations, high blood pressure and mild psychosis. If you experience these serious side effects, then seek medical advice and stop taking the supplement.

How does it work?

L-Dopa is a precursor to dopamine which is a neurotransmitter. Dopamine is a precursor to norepinephrine and epinephrine. These hormones are responsible for our energy levels, feelings of pleasure and muscle movement and coordination. L-Dopa is also thought to stimulate the production of testosterone which can help grow lean muscle mass.

L-Dopa can be a powerful mood enhancer, energy giver and focus creator. Essentially L-Dopa works to promote a healthy brain but in Ayurvedic medicine it has also traditionally been used as an aphrodisiac.

As a precursor to the dopamine, L-Dopa assists in the release of serotonin and other hormones which regulate mood and bring about feelings of pleasure and positivity. Serotonin can also help with sleep disorders. It also stimulates the production of free testosterone and all the associated be benefits of that.

Many believe that there are sexual health benefits to taking L-Dopa including increased libido, quality of sperm, improved fertility and size of testicles.
